A severe storm system will strike the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to wrap up the weekend.
This storm system moved towards the east across the northern plains and gradually weakened during Saturday night. The storm system will intensify again and continue its easterly track into Detroit and Indianapolis on Sunday evening.
The line of thunderstorms will extend from southwestern Ontario to parts of western Ohio, southern Indiana and central Illinois including the southeastern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Hot and humid weather across the Midwest will produce the apt conditions for the development of storms, while a front interacting with hot and humid air will make the storms more severe. The major threats from these storms will in the form of damaging winds, extremely heavy downpours, some of the strongest storms can produce hail. The peak activity will happen on Sunday evening when the threat of gusty winds and heavy rain will be at its peak.
These storms may spoil weekend plans, some areas across the region are in need of rain. According to authorities Michigan, northern Illinois, central Indiana and much of Ohio are currently under drought conditions.
This activity will reduce on Sunday night, but will fire up over parts of the Appalachians, including West Virginia on Monday.
