Since past week most parts of Seattle in Washington has been witnessing heavy to very heavy rainfall. Such heavy falls has made the National Weather Service in the city to issue the warning of landslides across the region throughout the week.
The incessant rainfall of 130 mm plus rainfall during last week last week has increased the moisture content in the soil across Western Washington. The lower reaches of the state has received 25-30 mm of rainfall whereas the hilly regions have received around 180 mm of rainfall. This rainfall is expected to continue across the state till Thursday night.
Few areas of West Seattle have already witnessed mudslides that managed to bring the power outage across Highland Park Way Southwest near Southwest Holden Street around 5 a.m. Travellers advised to reroute around the hillside.
This extra rainfall till Thursday evening is expected to provide the unwanted flooding threat. Seattle will now enter the top 10 wettest February’s on record today, with 13 days still remaining in the month.
