It has been just a month in 2019 and record-breaking weather conditions have already been wreaking havoc across many parts of the globe. In fact, damage and destruction has been at its peak in the month of January itself, god knows what the weather gods have in store for the rest of the year.

Australia heatwave has already been earth shattering with temperatures settling close to the 50-degree Celsius mark in January. So much so that it was not too hard to make an omelet right under the sun. In fact, as per Australia’s bureau of meteorology, Australia has seen the hottest January on record. Roads were melted and several animals were killed. Tasmania Wildfires also broke out all because of the intense heat.

New Zealand was also not far behind and ended up observing record breaking heatwave conditions. Both Wellington and Hamilton had seen the lowest temperatures on record at 30.3 degrees Celsius and 32.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Last week, the United States was hit by the Arctic Blast as a result of the Polar Vortex which had caused a deep freeze in many parts. At least 23 people have been reported to be killed with the freeze being a historic event of its kind.

200 million residents were witness to the epic freeze which had caused the cancellations of around 2300 flights and temperatures had gone down up to a whopping -32 degrees Fahrenheit resulting in the freezing of several rivers. At least 11 states had recorded temperatures lower than Utqiagvik in Alaska which is located in northern region of the Arctic Circle.

One of the many Chicago hospitals had 50 frostbite victims, some of who were even at the risk of losing an arm or so.

Britain and the UK were another region witnessing record low temperatures along with snowfall in many areas. Scotland saw 14.4 degrees Celsius which was the lowest in the last seven years. London Heathrow Airport had cancelled several flights due to snowfall activity along with Manchester and Liverpool runways being covered with snow.

Climate Change and Global Warming have been blamed for freak weather incidents and it will be interesting to see what the rest of the year will have in store.
