A severe heat wave has gripped Egypt, the most populous northern African country. Around 21 people have died and 66 people have been hospitalized due to heat related illnesses. This heat wave is expected to last till mid-August.

Sizzling heat wave in Poland to Ukraine and Romania during this week

A dangerous heat wave will continue to keep its grip tight around Eastern Europe for majority of this week. A high pressure area is present over Poland, Ukraine and the surrounding areas. This high pressure is causing clear weather and therefore, the temperatures have risen significantly. The temperatures have risen to the low to mid 30s across much of the region. Whereas, the normal for this time of the year is around 23°C. Warsaw broke the all-time high for the month of August on Saturday with 36.6°C beating the previous record of 36.4°C that occurred in August 1994. People in the region have been advised to take plenty of water and avoid strenuous activities during afternoons. The temperatures will continue to be high with no relief expected through the weekend as well.

Record breaking heat kills 55 in Japan

Dangerous heat in Japan has baked Japan and killed 55 people across the country while causing major heat related problems to thousands of people in the region. This particular heat wave is a prolonged one as Tokyo has encountered extreme heat for eight consecutive days. On Friday, Tokyo’s temperature reached a sizzling 37.7°C which is extremely high temperature for Tokyo. The torrid conditions are likely to continue and this might raise the death toll and the number of people with heat related illnesses.
