Rainy spell ahead for Pakistan

June 6, 2015 6:45 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last week of May, South and Central Pakistan experienced intense heatwave conditions. Relief, in the form of scattered rain and thundershowers came during the beginning of June, which led to significant drop in temperatures.

After this rainy spell, temperatures have not risen much. Now, after a gap of five days, the aforementioned areas particularly South Pakistan will receive scattered rain. As a result, temperatures are expected to drop further.

These pre-Monsoon showers will occur in the region due to the low pressure area which has formed over the Arabian Sea. By June 7 and 8, the system will move further north and induce cloud formation and rainfall activity over parts of Gujarat, adjoining Rajasthan and Pakistan.

Though, Monsoon is expected to reach Gujarat by June 15, the aforementioned parts of Pakistan will have to wait till the first week of July. Till then, one or two more spells of pre-Monsoon showers will bring much needed relief to the residents of South Pakistan.
