Rains to bring relief from scorching heat in Pakistan

June 21, 2015 12:01 PM |

pakParts of central and south Pakistan is witnessing very hot and dry conditions for the past few days. Temperatures are in the mid 40’s over most of the places. Parts of central Pakistan such as Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar are also witnessing very hot and uneasy conditions.

On 15th of June most of these places received scattered rain and the temperatures fell to settle in the mid 30’s. From 16th onwards the temperatures started rising due to absence of any weather system. In the month of June this type of variation in temperatures is very common in this region. Temperatures go down with the approach of a Western Disturbance (WD) and again peaks up well above 40° in the absence of any weather system. Good news is that a fresh WD is approaching the region. The WD is currently present over central Afghanistan. After 48 hours rain is expected over these areas which will bring much needed relief over the entire region.

A cyclonic circulation over north Arabian Sea off Gujarat coast will induce a low pressure area which will move in a westerly direction and due to this system strong south southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea will reach south Pakistan cities like Karachi, Hyderabad and Nawabshah.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, temperatures of this region will also come down due to the moist winds. Isolated rain in the region cannot be ruled out.
