The peril of heavy rains and floods can possibly return to the Plains of US this holiday weekend, covering eastward and striking flood-ravaged West Virginia this 4th of July.
With a stalling frontal boundary over the plains, showers and thunderstorms are expected during the later part of this week.
Possibly, Kansas and Missouri are the main places that might receive heavy rains and also flooding this Saturday.
Probably, the threat of flooding might shift to eastern Missouri and Illinois, covering the pockets of the Ohio and Tennessee Valley this Sunday. St. Louis is on high alert.
The flood threat sets up over the mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley, including West Virginia this Monday. These areas should be under strict watch as the last week’s flood was the third deadliest disaster in West Virginia’s history.
Not much, but three to five inches of rain is expected over areas of Kansas and Missouri. Hefty rains are also possible due to severe thunderstorms that may arise in isolated pockets as well.
As it is a holiday weekend, travelers are advised to be mindful about the possibility of flooding.
