Rain in Northwest, Snow in Northeast US on Black Friday

A storm is likely to affect areas from the Great Lakes to the Northeast United States.

Cooler air will invade the storm around the Great Lakes during Friday. Snow and hailstones are expected over parts of Wisconsin to Michigan. Temperatures may drop to 30 °F in these areas.

Though the weather will not interfere with Black Friday bargain hunting across much of the country, but there can be a few trouble spots. Shoppers may have to deal with patches of chilly weather across the Great Lakes and Northeast US.

Roads and parking lots could be slippery over the northern Plains, Upper Midwest and New England due to snowfall earlier in the week.

As the storm has left Minneapolis, very spotty rain or snow will occur over the Chicago area.

Friday is expected to begin with little or no rain for early bargain hunters in the Northeast. The day will start with temperatures ranging between 30 and 40 °F in most places.

The storm could strengthen near the Atlantic coast during late Friday. If this strengthening happens quickly, the storm could pull in enough cold air to produce snow over parts of the Northeast during Friday evening.

Along the Pacific coast, a strong storm will bring heavy showers to western parts of Oregon and Washington.

Shoppers from Seattle to Portland in Oregon should be well prepared for the wet weather. Temperatures will recover within a few degrees of 50, after a cool start.

Any more downpours can further reduce visibility and increase the risk of vehicles sliding.

The day will begin with dry conditions around San Francisco, the Bay Area and Texas, however rain is likely to occur during afternoon hours, while weather will remain dry over areas of Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, New Orleans, Denver, St. Louis, Atlanta and Miami on Friday.

The cities over the Intermountain West and northern Plains will observe wintry chill during early morning hours. However, temperatures will settle between 40 and 50 °F during the afternoon.
