Bangladesh Rains

Good rains have been lashing Bangladesh for the last two to three days. Moreover, the intensity thereafter saw a reduction during the last 24 hours but moderate rains with one or two heavy spells have been seen over eastern districts of Bangladesh.

During the next two to three days, rain activities will not be as high. However, intensity of these rains is all set to increase from June 1 over northern districts of Bangladesh. Heavy to extremely heavy rains are expected over Northeast Bangladesh between June 2 and 4. Thus, heavy to very heavy rains during the first week of June is expected.

Rains will result in flash floods, water logging as well as lightning strikes with flooding in many areas.

However, the south coastal districts will remain almost dry with isolated light rainfall activities. These rains will be attributed to the formation of a Cyclonic Circulation over Bangladesh as well as a trough will also extend from Bihar to Bangladesh. Humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will also feed moisture over the region.

Talking about Monsoon, usual date for Monsoon in Bangladesh is June 1 which coincides with Monsoon over Kerala and by June 5, Monsoon covers half of the country, subsequently, by June 10 Monsoon arrives over the entire nation.

While rains will be heavy, but onset over Kerala this time will occur in June 4, which means delayed Monsoon over Bangladesh.
