Tropical Cyclone Blake has formed in the Pacific, off Western Australia's West Kimberley coast, being the first cyclone to have formed in the storm season. The system is not a very strong system, but it is all set to strike the northwestern region of the country between Broome and Port Hedland, making a landfall bisecting between the two.
The centre of the system is running very close to the coast all along and will continue to track southwestward in the coming 36 hours, maintaining its proximity from the coast. After making landfall, the system is expected to weaken.
The system will give heavy rains over the regions. In fact, locals in Broome have already started preparing for the storm, stocking up on supplies. The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre has also set up an evacuation centre so as to keep the displaced in if needed.
However, as the northwest region is expected to see rains, and the Cyclone will neither affect nor provide any respite to the eastern regions which are observing raging bushfires.
While there have been some rains across Victoria, Gippsland and New South Wales and even temperatures have seen a drop. However, it is not going to last for long and blazes will once again take off, making lives all the more miserable for the residents.
