Rain, gales ahead for Britain

February 25, 2017 3:30 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After witnessing the horrific Storm Doris, Britain is all set to witness temperatures below the freezing point. The possibility of more snow and frosts over some parts can also not be ruled out. These weather conditions will be attributed the cold polar air due to which southerly winds will remain far away.

Minimums of -5 degrees are likely over the northern parts, meanwhile, south will witness temperatures slightly above the freezing point. At least three inches of rain is expected over several parts of the country today.

Mild conditions over some parts will result in leftover hill snow to melt off. The northwestern parts are likely to witness some severe weather in the form of heavy rainfall. Until the middle of the coming week, weather conditions will remain unsettled. Thereafter, the start to the spring season is expected to be chilly enough.

While the coming days will not witness weather as bad as during the time of Storm Doris, unsettled weather will remain persistent until next week. Weather is expected to feel slightly cold than before and snowfall is expected in the higher reaches.
