After a hot weekend, the weather of Sydney is likely to cool off with scattered rains, overcast skies and few storms during this week.

While temperatures on Sunday climbed up to 34 degrees Celsius in Sydney's west and 27 in the city, the warm weather will change into a cloudy, rainy week ahead.

Monday is most likely to be humid, with temperatures in the low to mid 30s. Also, few possibilities of rain and thunderstorms are expected.

A southerly wind change is likely in NSW moving up the coast, initially from southern Sydney during late afternoon and then spreading across the city by late evening. In the wake of this, drop in temperatures is expected.

Temperatures will steadily cool till Wednesday, before the mercury starts to climb once again towards the end of the week.

The showers will continue until Tuesday with possibilities of thunderstorms. Scattered showers are expected for the rest of the week across the city.

A severe fire danger warning has been predicted for the Upper Central West Plains and the northern parts of the country for Monday, however, the drop in temperatures and humid conditions will reduce fire danger.

The National Asthma Council for Australia has warned people with asthma and those who experience significant hay fever to take preventive steps during the stormy conditions.
