Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah receive rain
Parts of United Arab Emirates witnessed good rains during the last 24 hours. Rainfall was observed over Sharjah, Dubai as well as the national capital, Abu Dhabi. Rains were witnessed over the northern parts of the country including the interiors as well.
During the last 24 hours, 2.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at the Dubai International Airport. As per National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology, this rainfall activity is expected to continue over the regions during the next 18 to 24 hours.
Sea conditions have become very rough with waves ranging between 8 feet and 13 feet in the Oman Sea as well as the Arabian Gulf. The weather conditions have attributed to the low pressure which is currently over South of Iran. A trough is also extending from this system resulting in rains over the middle eastern nation.
Below freezing temperatures are expected over the mountains today. The possibility of freezing rain over these areas cannot be ruled out.
Weather patterns are expected to soon change in several parts of the United Arab Emirates. Not only will the temperatures witness a steep drop, but rain will also be observed over some parts of the nation. Along with this, the mountainous regions may also witness some snowfall activity today and tomorrow.
Cloud cover is expected to increase gradually over some parts. The mountain areas may witness temperatures touching the zero-degree mark. Areas in proximity with the sea may also observe strong winds. Dust storm is likely in some areas which may result in poor visibility in parts.
As per National Center of Meteorology and Seismology, UAE, Arabian Gulf along with the Oman Sea are expected to observe rough to very rough sea conditions. Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah may witness snowfall during the late-night hours of Saturday night. These weather conditions over the mountain will continue until Sunday morning.
These weather conditions will be attributed to a low-pressure area associated with cold air mass accompanied by low pressure on the surface layer. The north-westerly winds will once again become active and gradually strengthen resulting in poor visibility due to sand/dust blowing over the region.
