Hurricane Ignacio has intensified into a powerful hurricane and is inching towards Hawaii. The worst of the hurricane will narrowly miss Hawaii during the early part of this week. Ignacio is one of three hurricanes currently over the Pacific Ocean, the other two are Jimena and Kilo.

According to the latest indications, Jimena is currently in open waters and posing a threat to shipping interests. Ignacio will come close to Hawaii and will have some impact on the island. According to the current track the hurricane will be brushing past Hawaii. Ignacio will just brush past to the north of the island resulting in rough sea conditions. These rough sea conditions will affect the coast of Hawaii and will increase as the hurricane closes. The major impact will be felt on Sunday and Monday.

As the hurricane moves in a northwesterly direction and comes closer to Hawaii, it will meet cooler waters and drier air. This will weaken the hurricane from Monday. The weakening trend will turn the hurricane into a tropical storm by late Wednesday, as it moves away from Hawaii.

Rough seas, locally heavy rain and gusty winds will be impacting Hawaii from Monday to Wednesday. Some of the downpours may lead to flash floods and mudslides.
