Pakistan sizzles with severe heatwave; no relief likely

Hot weather has not only enveloped parts of India but the neighboring country Pakistan is also reeling under intense heat wave condition.

The heatwave has already gripped the Sindh and Baluchistan provinces of Pakistan where the temperatures are mounting several notches above the normal. Most districts of the country are even recording daytime high exceeding the 45-degree mark.

In the last 24 hours, Benazirabad recorded 47°C, Nawabshahr 46.5°C, Jacobabad 46.1°C, Chhor 45.9°C, Hyderabad 45.5°C, and Pod Idan witnessed 45.1°C temperature.

As per Skymet Weather, clear sky, scorching sun and absence of any significant weather system have basically fueled in the maximums to rise. Moreover, the prevailing west and northwest wind pattern is also another reason to be blamed for the hot weather condition persisting in the country.

At present, dry and hot winds are continuing from Iran and Afghanistan. Due to which the temperatures are scaling up. Until and unless wind pattern is not changed and the southerly flow of wind resumes, the temperature is not expected to subside.

However, a marginal drop in temperatures is likely around April 18. This will occur when the southern parts of Sindh region will witness the winds blowing from the Arabian Sea.

These humid winds though may curtail down the mercury levels to some extent but in turn, it will increase the humidity levels thereby making the weather conditions uneasy and uncomfortable.
