Rains in Pakistan bring Marginal relief from heatwave

Pakistan has received light to moderate showers making the weather conditions favorable. A low pressure area was existing over North Baluchistan with a trough extending south-eastward. An induced cyclonic circulation over north and central parts of Pakistan has given fairly widespread moderate to heavy rain activities over Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), upper Punjab, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.

During last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, rainfall recorded in most parts of the country are:

 

Now, these rainy spells are expected to continue over POK, North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), Islamabad and northern parts of Punjab for another 24 hours. However, isolated rain and thundershowers will continue.

A westerly wave is affecting northern parts of the country which is likely to affect the country during next 24 to 36 hours. Thereafter, weather is expected to go dry and the weather of south Baluchistan and Sindh will continue to be very hot with severe heatwave conditions prevailing over the region.

The maximum temperatures recorded in parts of Pakistan were: Sibbi 50°C, Jacobabad 49°C; Dadu, Turbat and Rahim Yar Khan 48°C each and Sukkar recorded 47°C.
