Northeast USA set for the warmest September

It seems that the summer like temperatures which have stretched well beyond August will result in the warmest September on record across the Midwest and Northeast region of USA. All this is after some cooler and near normal temperatures have been experienced during the last part of the month, the maximum temperatures were abnormally too high to make any sort of balance. This has resulted in record temperatures across major cities and small towns.

In New York City’s Central Park the average temperature till September 29 was around 23°C which is nearly a degree above the record for the month which was set in 1961. Near record temperatures extend as far as Minneapolis where the average temperature for the same period has tied with the warmest September ever which was in the year 1897 at around 20°C. Pittsburgh this September is likely to be the warmest since 1931. The average temperature this September has been settling more than 21°C which is around 3°C above normal.

In places like Boston; Hartford, Connecticut; Burlington, Vermont; and Traverse City, Michigan this September is set to be the warmest ever on record. Many of the records date back to early 1900s and few date back to late 1800s. In other places like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Philadelphia will come close to breaking the record and will experience one of the warmest September ever.

It is possible that a strong El Nino is linked to these warm temperatures across the region. October will see a drop in temperatures across the region. Even if the temperature are slightly above normal, the conditions will still be comfortable.
