The arrival of Northeast Monsoon has not only brought a bouquet of good rains for the South Peninsular India but the rainy saga for the neighboring country, Sri Lanka also seems to continue. Most parts of Sri Lanka have received the varied intensity of rains from the last 2-3 days.

Though as compared with the last 48 hours, rains during the last 24 hours were on a lower side. In the last 24 hours, districts such as Jaffna recorded moderate showers of 33.6 m., Kandy 25.7 mm, Colombo 15.6 mm, Kurunegala 15.2 mm and Trincomalee witnessed 11.8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, light to moderate with one or two heavy spells are likely to continue in many parts of Sri Lanka. These rains will be due to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over the northern parts of Sri Lanka and adjoining South Coastal Tamil Nadu.

These moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur over many districts of the country until November 5 but the intensity of these showers will reduce thereafter.

Henceforth, many parts of the country can witness light with few moderate spells. Skymet Weather further reiterates that this time of the year is the rainy season for Sri Lanka as along with Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh in India, the Northeast Monsoon affects the country until the month of December.
