Drought US

Severe drought conditions are persisting over areas of Southeast United States. In fact, No significant relief is in sight for the drought-stricken areas from central Mississippi to Southwestern North Carolina.

There can be couple of chances for rainfall on Thanksgiving Day; however the showers are not expected to be good enough to help drought affected areas.

As of now, there are no signs of any significant rainfall through the end of the month across the Southeast US.

Although, there is rain in sight across the Carolinas and Eastern Georgia on Sunday, but very little rainfall to reach the most severe drought areas.

Much of the third week of November is expected to be dry. However, this could change during the next weekend. This change entirely depends on how much moisture the front is able to pull from the Gulf of Mexico to produce rainfall over the drought areas.

In the wake of the front, dry conditions are expected to make a comeback during the fourth week of November. These extremely dry conditions have led to wildfires across the southern Appalachians.

Smoke from these fires have spread hundreds of miles away, leading to poor air quality, hazy skies and reduced visibility across the region.
