New York Fashion Week to kick off on a stormy note

September 8, 2015 3:04 PM |

Meskita - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015The New York Fashion Week is all set to kick off on Thursday. A word of caution is that storms are expected to affect the first official day of the mega event.

These storms are capable of flash flooding across the region and make travelling to different venues hazardous. This is a half-yearly event and this time the Fashion Week will feature spring/summer 2016 collection. Some of the biggest fashion designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Monique Lhuillier, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors will be showcasing their collections. This year two new venues have been added for the official show. These venues are the Skylight at Moynihan Station and the Skylight at Clarkson.

Other popular designers like Kate Spade New York, Christian Siriano, Diane Von Furstenburg and Marc Jacobs will be showcasing their collections across other venues in the city. Minor flooding on the streets is possible as the storms are capable of producing heavy rain. Those travelling to these venues have been advised to keep umbrellas handy.

By Friday, these storms will subside and humidity levels will reduce. Temperatures will also drop making the conditions comfortable for Saturday. Saturday is expected to be the best day for the Fashion Week with partly sunny skies. However, rain is expected to make a comeback on Sunday. Although, it will not be a washout, showers and a possible thunderstorm could cause travel delays throughout the city.
