The US space agency has released its temperature data from January, and well, the results don’t look too great.
As per NASA, January 2016 was the hottest January ever recorded, and it is no good news at all. While January 2015 had already broken records, this year was way warmer.
According to the data, January 2016 stood at 1.13 degree Celsius warmer than the global average as well as NASA’s benchmark between the years 1951 and 1980.
This January was about 0.3 degree Celsius than the last one. The year 2015 has already been declared as the hottest year ever recorded by both NOAA and NASA. And if statistics are to be believed, the year 2016 is likely to get even worse.
The temperatures have already been sky high and one by one they have been breaking their set records. Not only are countries including the United States and the United Kingdom observing warmer temperatures, but the North Pole is also following the same trend.
This winter, the temperatures over the North Pole shockingly rose to 0 degrees Celsius, which barely qualifies as the freezing temperature of water. Scientists believe this winter to be one of the strangest winters in the Arctic.
The little devil El Nino and the general warm conditions caused 2015 to be the hottest year ever. If no strict measures are taken, Climate Change will continue to wreak havoc resulting in more tepid and flooding Christmases as well as Arctic melting heat shortly.
