Torrential rains have been lashing parts of Southeast US for the last couple of days. Series of storms have reportedly killed more than five people, forced thousands of people to flee their flooded homes and wrecked highways.
Meteorologists are predicting more floods in the rivers of Texas including the Navasota, Neches, Sabine, San Jacinto and Trinity rivers.
Rescue operations are being carried out. Huge military trucks reached northern parts of Louisiana on Thursday to rescue families trapped under relentless rain.
Flashflood warnings were issued from eastern Texas through Louisiana and up to the Mississippi River Valley. Parts of Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and southern Illinois also faced the wrath of the storms.
The spell of heavy rainfall is slowly shifting eastwards. The risk of flooding will extend up to southern and eastern parts of Arkansas, western Mississippi, western Tennessee and southern Illinois.
Waters in large rivers continue to rise as excessive rainfall of the past few days is progressively working its way to them.

Around this time last year, a major part of the region was hit with rounds of excessive rainfall and flooding.
