Several rounds of thunderstorm activities will increase the risk of flash flooding right from southern parts of Minnesota to west-central Wisconsin over this week.
Several parts of the region could receive more than 6 inches of rainfall for the next 24 to 48 hours. The risk of flooding will prevail across Minneapolis and Rochester in Minnesota, and Eau Claire in Wisconsin.
Air, rail and road travel could be disrupted due to reduction in visibility and motorists should be careful of skidding. This is also because we could witness little ponds of water forming on the roads.
The threat of flash flood and strong damaging winds will reach up to eastern Nebraska, northern Missouri and northeastern Kansas, by Wednesday night. The cities to be affected will include Omaha, Kansas City and Des Moines.
By the end of the week, a large storm system will bring heavy rainfall, high country snow and strong winds will start drifting toward the Plains from the Intermountain West.
This weekend we can also expect about one or two inches right from central and western Texas to the Dakotas. Isolated places could also witness 3 to 6 inches of rainfall. Heavy showers and localized severe storms cannot be ruled over the Dallas and Oklahoma City.
