Several parts of Europe are expected to witness severe weather conditions starting today. Hurricane force winds are likely over many areas in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Portugal during the next 24 hours.

These conditions will be attributed to the presence of a very powerful jet stream which is expected to release multiple Atlantic storms into the European nations. While Italy may be spare this week, next week another storm could bring heavy rain and strong winds into the country.

Winds are likely to gust up to 80 mph due to which several weather warnings have been into effect. High waves are expected to lash the coastal areas of France. Waves measuring 54 feet were spotted by a European Satellite.

This series of storms is in some way related to the polar vortex, which is causing stormy conditions across the Western European region. As per reports, two storms are likely to first hit France during the next 24 to 36 hours, both of which may cause some damage.

As far as the United Kingdom is concerned, stormy weather is on its way. In fact, a yellow wind warning has also been issued. Southwest England along with South Wales may witness heavy rains.

Coming to Portugal, red warnings have come into force as storms are brewing in the high seas. The possibility of waves as high as 12 to 14 metres cannot be ruled out.
