A tiny touch of spring may have residents believing that winter is long gone. However, weather conditions have once again become cold and temperatures have gone down to as low as 10 degree Celsius.

As per meteorologists, a cold front passed through the region around afternoon gave a bitter taste of reality bringing back the brutal cold weather after a clear Thursday when the temperatures had reached up to 20 degrees.

Several areas in the Melbourne suburbs have also witnessed some rainfall activity. However, these rains were expected to clear by late evening hours resulting in a slightly chilly night.

Saturday morning also witnessed a fall in temperatures with light rains over some parts of the city. In Craigieburn which lies in Melbourne’s north, 0.4 mm of rainfall was recorded in 24 hours’ time.

Saturday night could witness more rains and are likely to be more widespread as well as frequent as compared to last night.  The maximum temperature recorded over the city yesterday was 13.6 degree Celsius.

Some snowfall was also recorded over major ski resorts in Victoria. With 18 cm, the most was recorded in Mount Hotham.

Cold weather is expected to continue throughout the weekend. Not only this, the next week is also expected to witness cold weather conditions with the average high being around 14 degrees.
