Victorians will not just have to cope with wintry days but also heavy downpours. It had rained across the state the entire weekend and these weather conditions will continue for some more days.
Owing to massive rainfall, almost ten flood warnings have been issued across the state and there could be more in the coming days. As of now, the Glenelg River is of major concern which could trigger major flooding over the enclosed areas.
On Sunday morning, the river had already peaked at six metres at Casterton in Victoria’s west.
Now, Bendigo in central Victoria can be the next to witness these hefty downpours, as this part of the state has missed the rain and has been dry for almost 12 hours or so. However, with these rains coming in tonight, it could pick up around 20 to 30 mm overnight and into Tuesday.
In fact, over the weekend Mount William in the Grampian Ranges in Victoria’s southwest received 75mm of rain and Hamilton, in Victoria’s west, recorded 70mm of rainfall.
As for now, the rain in the state at the moment is fairly light, however during last 12 hours there has been about 10 mm of rainfall across south western Victoria. These rains are expected to continue for the next two or three days across much of Victoria.
With these heavy rainfalls, Victorians are trembling through cold and freezing temperatures. In fact, Melburnians are pulling their coats back out after they got a foretaste of bright and warm weather last week.
Across Victoria, major flood warnings have been issued for Broken River, Seven and Castle Creeks and the Werribee River at Ballan. There are minor flood warnings in place for the Avoca River, Kiewa River, Loddon River, Murray River upstream of Lake Hume, Ovens and King rivers and the Snowy River.
