If indications are to be believed then yet another snowstorm will take a pot shot at northeast and Midwest this week, which is likely to cause problems due to flooding and ice. This storm is likely to take a northerly track as compared to the storm last weekend. The snow will be widespread from Wyoming to north Michigan on Monday to Tuesday and from central Ontario to northern New York, southern Quebec and northern Maine on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The moisture incursion from south will bring in warm and moist air, which will cause snow to change to an icy mix causing rain across the rest of Midwest and northeast. This snow sleet mix will move from west to east and may cause enough ice for road travel to become slippery for a short while around Chicago, Indiana Polis, Ohio, Pittsburgh, New York and Boston.
Persistent snow and icing in the interior parts of northeast may lead to downed trees and power outages. Road conditions will improve only when rain produced by the warmer air replaces ice and temperatures rise above freezing level, but rain will bring along reduced visibility causing traffic snarls and flight delays. Ohio valley is area of high concern as the terrain combined with snow cover, heavy rain and rapid snowmelt is likely. Places where heaps of snow are covering storm drains especially in low lying area will be most vulnerable to flooding.
