Temperatures in Britain are varying considerably by more than 15 degrees.
Milder weather was observed in the northern areas due to few patches of cloud, meanwhile clear skies in the south led to a much chillier start to the day.
In Scotland, Sutherland recorded a minimum of 9.1°C around 4 am, while Frittenden in Kent observed -6.5°C around 5.45am. This was followed by Goudhurst in Kent and Writtle in Essex, which recorded a minimum of -6.1°C.
According to weathermen, this is actually usual at this time of year between autumn and spring.
Southeast England has witnessed clear skies overnight and with cold air coming from the continent, temperatures plummeted.
Other parts of the country remained under a blanket of cloud which kept the temperatures up.
With this, we can say that it’s like two ends of the spectrum of winter weather, definitely a big contrast across the country.
As the day progresses, the difference in temperature is expected to become less marked, with a maximum of 10°C or 11°C for Scotland, while temperatures in the Southeast region likely to climb to 4°C or 5°C.
