Disastrous floods have been wreaking havoc over Louisiana since last week. More than 30 inches of rainfall have been dumped over some areas. Flood waters have damaged several thousands of homes and business organizations while more than a dozen have been killed.
The disaster in Louisiana is being termed by the Red Cross as the worst phenomenon to hit the United States since Superstorm Sandy.
According to media reports, more than 13 people have been drowned and 40,000 homes have been either damaged or washed away by the flood waters.
Red Cross believes that this ‘epic’ disaster could touch up to 30 million dollars in disaster response.
This incident seems to be struggling for national attention as it has been overshadowed by the Olympics, election season and the California wildfires.
