The Sri Lankan nation has been recording quite a few good spells of rains for the past few days. So much so that some parts of the country have even been witnessing few heavy rainy spells. The last 24 hours have also been quite similar for many areas in Sri Lanka as good showers have made an appearance over the country.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Katunayake recorded 30 mm of rain, Ratmala 15 mm, Puttalam 13 mm, Hambantota 4 mm, Anuradhapura 4 mm, Kurunegala 2 mm, and Mannar 1.6 mm.

These rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of an upper air trough which is extending from southern parts of Tamil Nadu up to Sri Lanka.
