The 89th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood kept viewers guessing all the way till the end about the best picture winner. Moonlight came as the surprise winner as initially the best picture announced as La La Land, but moments later it was revealed that it was a mistake.
The awards got off to a rousing, musical start, with Justin Timberlake starting things with his best song nominee, Can’t Stop the Feeling.
The awards were hosted by famous night show host Jimmy Kimmel, who kept the show humorous.
To start with the award winners, the best actor award was given to Casey Affleck for the film Manchester by the Sea, while Emma Stone was given the best actress award for La La Land.
Best supporting actor and actress award winners were Mahershala Ali for Moonlight and Viola Davis for Fences. The best director winner was no doubt Damien Chazelle for his amazing work in La La Land, making him the youngest winner in the category in Oscar history.The best original song was announced as Justin Hurwitz for the track City Of Stars from La La Land.

The host Jimmy Kimmel ended the show after solving the confusion for the best picture winner and announcing Moonlight the final winner.
