Intense Heat Wave in Pakistan; Mercury to climb up to 50 degrees Celsius

May 25, 2015 3:30 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The severe heat wave has been unrelenting, especially in the last four days, in southeast Pakistan close to Rajasthan and Kutch border. Most of the places in the region have been experiencing temperatures well above 45°C and in some places the temperature has been close to 50°C.

This heat is due to the absence of any weather system and the dry conditions which have been prevailing in this region for some time. Hot and dry winds have been blowing across this region. The roads in the region bear a deserted look as people have been forced to stay indoors due to the severe heat. Some people have resorted to bathing in canals to get relief from the searing heat. This is the time of the year when summer is at its peak and such heat waves are common. Though the intensity of the heat wave varies.

The weather outlook is not promising as this severe heat wave shows no signs of letting up. No relief is expected for the next few days.

Below is the table depicting the severity of the heat wave in some places in the region in the last four days.
