After a volcano erupted in Indonesia, rescuers were asked to dispatch on Wednesday to get nearly 400 travelers evacuated.

Mount Barujani started erupting just a day before, sending plumes of ash and smoke hitting almost 2 km into the sky over Lombok Island, which is a tourist hotspot close to east of Bali. Approximately 400 people were recorded trekking near Barujani, a small pyramid within the crater of Mount Rinjani.

Trekkers were told to keep at least 3 km distance from the flaming volcano; trekking to the top of Mount Rinjani is a key attraction made by thousands of tourists every year.

The threat level of the volcano was upgraded on Tuesday as Barujani sent columns of smoke and hot ash into the atmosphere; however it stayed two steps from the highest-risk category.

As such there was no flight disturbances recorded on Wednesday due to the ash clouds, but some flights to and from the nearby resort Island of Bali were cancelled overnight, but Lombok's international airport remains unaffected.
