This system stands a chance to strengthen further into a Category 2 hurricane due to warm water and low wind shear over the Central Atlantic.

Oscar continues to swirl over the Atlantic Ocean without posing any threat to the land. It is expected to turn towards the northwest on Monday and may rush across the north-central Atlantic by the middle of the week.

Bermuda will be spared the atrocity of Oscar in terms of heavy rain and high-velocity winds; however, the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along the coast.

Considering the heavy surf and dangerous rip currents, people are advised to avoid venturing near the sea.

Hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean usually starts from the month of June and lasts till November 30. The peak time is considered between mid-August to late October when catastrophic storms occur. However, deadly hurricanes can form anytime during this season.

Oscar is the eighth hurricane of 2018 in the Atlantic. The others were Beryl, Chris, Florence, Helene, Isaac, Leslie and Michael.
