Hurricane Nicole has rapidly grown to a Category 4 hurricane on late Wednesday evening with winds reaching up to speeds of 130 mph. With the forecasted trajectory of the Hurricane, Nicole is most likely to hit on Bermuda heads on Thursday.
With Category 4, Nicole will cause major damage to the islands and the impacts could be devastating. A hurricane warning has been issued for Bermuda. Preparations are in place to protect life and property and the concerned authorities are already on their toes.

At present, Hurricane Nicole was located about 180 miles south-southwest of Bermuda. The latest satellite image shows a large eye which is believed to be 50 miles wide which is much larger than the width of Bermuda. Nicole is likely to move more towards northeast of Bermuda after rattling the islands. The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) has forecasted that Hurricane Nicole will be a major hurricane of Category 3 or higher as it passes over Bermuda.

Hurricanes of such intensity over Bermuda are rare occurrence. Only three hurricanes of Category 3 intensity have passed over Bermuda since the 1950s. The most recent Hurricane was in 2014 called Hurricane Gonzalo which was of Category 3 to Category 2 that hit Bermuda head on.
