Floods-in-US post

Hurricane Newton has slammed into Baja California, Mexico as a category 1 hurricane on early Tuesday morning. This system is further likely to give torrential showers over Southwest following late Wednesday.

Due to this, Southwestern US is threatened against possibilities of flooding. As per the forecasters, heavy rainfall is likely to arrive across southeastern Arizona. This rainfall is expected to make its appearance over the farther east including Tucson.

Worth noticing piece of news is that Southwest US may witness almost close to its 2 months rainfall wrapped up within a day. This heavy swath of rains can approximately give 3 inches of rains in less than 24 hours.

Tucson is said to observe 1.29 inches of rains in September however, it may witness exceptional rains in just a day’s time.

This torrential downpour can lead to flash flood resulting in flooded streets, rockslides in hilly areas further leading to road blockages and power outages.  Moreover, streams, rivers and drainage areas can flood quickly with these tropical downpours.
