Hotter than normal July in store for USA as La Nina builds

July 1, 2016 12:12 PM |

USA weatherJune was bad enough but are we expecting any relief in July? According to latest summer outlook, July will continue with the same weather trend that has been witnessed in USA in last few months.

July is USA’s hottest month that brings the chance of temperature hitting 50 degrees Celsius or higher. This year slightly hotter-than-normal weather is expected with month’s average temperature settling close to 30 to 32°C.

According to meteorologists across the globe, the transition from El Nino to La Nina is bolstering a hot pattern across the US. What it means is summertime high-pressure ridges are stronger and cool low-pressure troughs are weaker. The transition started in June and its impact started to reflect in the hotter than the normal weather across the entire USA.

Hot weather accompanied by uncomfortable humidity will be common in July in several areas of northwest and southeastern states. While scarce rainfall will lead to drought-like conditions in Washington state and areas close to it, severe drought is expected to continue in California. Boston, New York City, Atlanta and Philadelphia are few of the cities that will observe temperatures 4-7 degrees above than the normal.

The latest long range models show some extremely warm air bubbling up across the South as well as most of the United States.
