Hot and humid air is expected to be observed over the northeastern United States during the midweek period and this will continue into the following weekend as well. Thunderstorms are anticipated with the sweltering weather, though the humidity levels will be higher making people very uncomfortable.
This blend of heat, high humidity, sunshine and other conditions will drag temperatures above 100°F in most areas of the Northeast during later part of this week.
Temperatures are expected to climb only a few degrees in most coastal areas; however the humid air will continue to make it hotter. High temperatures will tend upward from the upper 80s degree Fahrenheit to the lower to middle 90s degree Fahrenheit in Interstate 95 corridor.
The Appalachians and lower Great Lakes region that have been relishing warm days with low humidity and cool nights up till now will have to face the most noticeable change. Highs in the lower to middle 80s degree Fahrenheit will be substituted with highs in the upper 80s degree Fahrenheit to the lower 90s degree Fahrenheit. The major change is expected to be felt during night hours.
Along with this hot and humid air, will be an uptick in shower and thunderstorm activity. Rains are likely to first pour around late Tuesday over Virginia and West Virginia and will intensify further towards north to parts of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and New England by late Wednesday.
During the weekend, both the tropical moisture and a proceeding front might fetch some rain to several areas, especially from the Ohio Valley to New England.
