Horrendous Hurricane Maria throttles Dominica; Irma ravaged Caribbean next

Hurricane Maria which was just a hurricane about 24 hours underwent one of the speediest intensification and ended up becoming a Category 5 Hurricane before it hit the Caribbean Island of Dominica wreaking havoc over the region. In fact, the eye of Maria went right through the island of Dominica causing way more chaos than anticipated.

When Maria made landfall, its wind speed was up to a whopping 260 kmph. As per the Prime Minister, Maria has destroyed everything money can buy in Dominica. In fact, the Prime Minister’s house has also suffered immense damage.

The island has suffered at its most and everything there has suffered destruction. As per the PM, due to heavy rains over the region, landslides could soon follow which may cause severe injuries as well as fatalities.

Winds have swept off the roofs of several homes. An avalanche which was triggered has caused even more damage in the region. There are several who remain trapped and the conditions will be monitored during the morning hours.

While Hurricane Maria was passing the mountains of Dominica, it lost some of its strength, it soon gained power. At present, Maria has been downgraded to a Cat 4 Hurricane but it is soon expected to gain strength as it moves towards the Caribbean.

Maria is now moving towards the islands in the Caribbean which have already been throttled by the previous monstrous Hurricane Irma. Now, Maria may intensify into a Cat 5 Hurricane while it continues to move towards the Virgin Islands as well as Puerto Rico.

Areas including Dominica, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, British and US Virgin Islands, along with areas of Puerto Rico, Culebra as well as Vieques.
