Torrential rains and thunderstorms have triggered massive floods across major states of Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. Incessant showers, also can be touted as one of the heaviest spells, were witnessed throughout Wednesday, and were accompanied by squally winds.
The deadly weather has claimed three lives so far and over 3500 homes have been evacuated so far.
Reportedly, at least two EF1-category tornadoes had hit Texas on Tuesday. The storm refused to die down on Wednesday as well, pouring incessant rain over the region.
The continuous weather activity led to the swelling of local rivers of the affected region. Thousands of homes and streets have been submerged in water.
Over 1600 lightning strikes were witnessed in a span of an hour on Wednesday in Austin city of Louisiana. Hailstorms were also recorded across the region during last 48 hours.
Moreover, some respite is likely during next 24 hours as well. However, all the states including northern Louisiana, eastern Texas and southern Arkansas, continue to be under flash-flood warnings. These areas are likely to receive up to a foot of rain on Friday also.
The storms are expected to shifting eastwards by Thursday towards Mississippi. Thereafter, we can expect intensity to reduce by Friday and the weekend.
