The so-called sunny state of Hawaii has been lashed heavily by thick snow blanket over past few days. Snow accumulating to approximately two to three inches has hammered the Hawaii Island. As per the weather experts, heavy snow falling at such a low altitude is a rare phenomenon.

The heaviest snow accretions are on two of the island's highest peaks, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Here, the snowfall is measured to be between two and three feet in just a few days.

Moreover, other parts of this beautiful holiday destinations have been lashed by flash flooding on Sunday. As per the forecasters, more snow with some rains and thunderstorms are stored on cards for the region.

The heavy snow and rain thunderstorms have also led to the closure of the road access to the two peaks until Monday.

Furthermore, the weatherman also claims that the two mountain peaks, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are prone to receiving snow amounting to two to three inches especially in colder months. Though there are winters when the region witnesses little or no snow at all.

Heavy rains have been hammering the rest of Hawaii with temperatures settling at around 20°C, considered warmer than that on higher grounds. Moreover, the weatherman foresees some isolated heavy rains, there is also no denying the fact that the region may also witness some occasional sunny spells.

As per The US National Weather Service, a low pressure, and a deep tropical moisture persists over the region. In the wake of this weather system, this type of unsettled weather behavior is expected to continue for another few days.
