Startling changes in the weather is expected across the eastern United States during the later part of October. Before cooler air and localized snow showers lash the region, few episodes of warmth and rain are in store.
With the sunny weekend, an episode or two of rain is likley over some parts of the region like across upstate New York and New England during the first part of the next week.
Mainly dry and sunny weather will continue over the Matthew-ravaged Southeastern states from this weekend into the mid-next week.
As per weather experts, the jet stream will bring considerable changes in the weather, which may not be considered unusual for this time of the year. In most parts of the eastern states, warmth will build during the next week as the jet stream bulges northward.
Daytime temperatures will climb to almost 80 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of the Ohio Valley, South and the mid-Atlantic. In fact, highs may plunge in a few locations also. Farther north, maximums will reach to 70 degrees Fahrenheit from the Great Lakes to New England. However, the jet stream is likely to plummet southward during late next week. As a result, cooler air will flow from Canada.
Although the timing, extent and magnitude of the cold air is unpredictable at this point, however the cold air may possibly bring the first snow showers of the season around the Great Lakes and into the central and northern Appalachians centered around the next weekend.
The expected cold push will bring daytime highs in the lower 40s to the lower 50s degree Fahrenheit over areas of the Midwest and interior Northeast during the fourth week of October.
More swings in temperature and weather conditions are anticipated into early November over most parts of the eastern states. Prior to this chilly and snowy conditions, some areas may witness an episode or two of heavy shower and thunderstorms.
Heavy rain may first occur over the lower Mississippi and Ohio valleys and then will move eastward during late next week and into the weekend.
Any possibilities for heavy rain in coastal areas of the Southeast will remain a concern in the coming weeks, as some rivers in the region will still be above flood stage.
