After heavy rain and severe storms that moved throughout the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, one person is reportedly dead. The person was killed when he was directing a truck down a driveway in Shenandoah County, Virginia a falling tree struck him as, according to WHSV.

The driver inside the truck was not critically injured in the incident. The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office in an official statement informed that the victim was a man in his early 30s from northern Virginia.

The weathermen said, "Winds were gusting around 30 mph at the time of the incident. There was on and off rain throughout the day, so the ground was already very saturated, making it easier for a tree to come down."

On Thursday afternoon many road accidents were reported in Strasburg and Woodstock, Virginia. This lead to massive traffic jams in the area. The authorities had to close several roads on routes to west Strasburg.

Heavy downpours also led to flooding in the basement of the Shenandoah County Sherrif's Office, according to NV Daily.

Nearly 200 people were saved from Canal Woods condominium complex in Salisbury, Maryland. This was done because the water rushed downstream from the Morris Mill dam. These residents were sheltered in a temporary Red Cross Shelter.
