A tropical wave is likely to produce frequent downpours and heavy thunderstorms across Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday, triggering flash flooding and travel delays. These heavy downpours and thunderstorms are not unusual throughout Florida but this time, there will be a noticeable increase through midweek.
A tropical wave is expected to move into Florida on Tuesday which will increase the risk for heavy rain and activity. This tropical wave has earlier hit Bahamas producing heavy rains over the last few days.
Heavy downpours are likely to hit the southeastern coast of Georgia on Wednesday as the system's moisture will cover the north. These downpours will be capable of producing almost 2-3 inches of rain in a short amount of time.
The torrential rains will bring visibility to near zero at times on roadways, increasing the threat for sliding and this may also trigger flood-like situation in some areas. Moreover, air travelers across the state will have to face delays.
In addition to flooding rainfall, these heavy thunderstorms will be capable of producing gusty winds, but the threat for damaging winds will be isolated.
Despite the weakening tropical wave, more heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely across Florida into the approaching weekend, however, these will not be as frequent.
