After witnessing a prolonged spell of dry weather, Britain is all set to observe heaviest snowfalls in years approaching this winters.
This would probably be the country’s first icy blast arrives in six weeks unbridling four months of heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures
As per the weatherman, this year would be a snow filled Christmas for the Britons. After observing mild winters and autumn, UK will be facing the coldest and snowiest winters for at least six years.
A heavy drop in the mercury will be due to freezing air sweeping in from the Polar Regions. Comparing last year’s winters, start of November will be extremely cold for Stark.
Special warning have been issued for people in the north to slat down the entrances for strong winter blasts, blizzards along with heavy snow across the country.
To top it up, mild spells along with strong storms and incessant rains, gales leading to flooding is also expected.
Throughout this winter, some quite potent wintry blasts are foreseen initiating in early November for the northern half of the country. While, some prolonged wintry weather is expected in the southern half of the country.
Strong negative Arctic and North Atlantic Oscillations are predicted over Britain. In the wake of this weather system, Britain will get winter chills. Moreover, in its undesirable phase, the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) sees atmospheric pressure drop around Bermuda and rise over Iceland.
Due to this, a reduced pressure gradient between the two regions are formed. Furthermore, weakening of the dominant westerly winds is leading to stormy conditions into the UK from the Atlantic.
Another reason for such cold winters over the country can also be attributed to the winds coming from further north over northern Europe, including Britain.
Weather irregularities have always affected Britain through the past 12 months. As per records, last winters had been the warmest for the nation while September has been the fieriest in around 105 years.
Summers in Britain started exceptionally cold while hefty rainstorms towards the middle of the season endangered to rainfall flip rainfall records.
Around the East coast of South America as well, temperatures have scaled down to normal values. However, signs El Nino’s cooling counterpart La Nina, coming into force this year is also foreseen.
