Heatwave to strike south Queensland and northern NSW

Extreme heatwave is forecasted for the East Coast which is expected to swelter in the scorching 44°C in some regions. By the weekend, parts of Sydney and south east Queensland is expected to sweat in 40°C.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a heat-carrying system is expected to spread from far west Queensland across the state through NSW.

In fact, the rural parts of Queensland may also expect temperatures to climb at a good 40°C on Tuesday. Further, the weather is likely to stay and continue to remain hotter for the rest of the week.

Brisbane on the other side, will witness the mercury settling at around 30°C though the temperatures will upsurge as an “extreme” heatwave gathers force from Friday to Sunday.

As per the Met Department, Queensland’s capital, Brisbane is expected to reach at least 35°C, Ipswich is expected to settle at 38°C, Toowoomba 37°C and outback Birdsville 43°C.

A low–level “severe” heatwave is also expected to lash south and central parts of Queensland and north NSW.

The Met Experts further states that the temperatures were already 5-7°C above their November average.

Warm temperatures is also expected to further spread across parts of South Queensland to anywhere south of Longreach. Moreover, Queensland has always been spared from such type of heatwave for a number of years.

On Friday, Gold Coast is expected to witness a high of 31°C whereas, a sweltering 31°C is forecasted for Caloundra on Saturday.

Weekend will also be sultry for Canberra that is expected to hit 33°C. Sydney’s CBD will also observe a high 30s on weekend. On the contrary, temperatures will be climbing upon 30°C mark for Penrith on Wednesday as well, Friday will be again sweltering for Penrith that is expected to touch 38°C.

Penrith will break the 30C mark on Wednesday before climbing to a scorching 38C on Friday. Weather will be even hotter for the inland areas that include Dubbo settling at 40°C on Friday and Moree reaching 44°C on Saturday.

However, some relief is expected in other states of the country including Melbourne which is at present witnessing a good 21° C and is expected to reach 27°C on Thursday. While Hobart will be comparatively cooler with temperatures settling not beyond 21°C.
