Scotland Heat

Scotland is all set to bask in unexpectedly warm weather as a mini heatwave is forecast to hit the country this week. Temperatures are expected to climb 4 or 5 degrees above the seasonal average, reaching 23°C in some areas. The north and east parts are likely to witness good weather conditions, which is expected to continue until the weekend.

According to Met Office, brighter spells are expected on Monday across northern Aberdeenshire in Moray, up towards Caithness and perhaps even Shetland. For many western and central areas, it will be a cloudy day with outbreaks of light rain. Temperatures could be up to around 20°C or 21°C in brighter areas. Under the cloudier conditions, it will be humid, with temperatures of 18°C or 19°C.

Tuesday is expected to start off cloudy with possibilities of showers across the south and west, but it is likely to clear up as the morning goes on. There will be a south-westerly breeze, but nothing particularly strong, which is why eastern parts are faring better than the west. Conditions across Scotland will be fairly humid for most part of the week, with some regions witnessing patchy rains. Heavy showers are likely over higher ground.

Thursday will be just another warm day, however, some places will observe clouds and outbreaks of mainly light rain. Again, we could see the heavy downpours, especially during the later part of the day. There will also be some sunshine around – especially across southern and more northern parts of the country, particularly early in the day.  As for temperatures, the Moray Firth and the far north could see around 20°C or 2°C, while Glasgow and perhaps even Edinburgh might reach 21°C or 22°C.
