Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in parts of Queensland during the week as maximum temperatures may surpass the 40-degree mark. The day temperatures are expected to settle 8-9°C above average.
Subsequently, these weather conditions would shift towards the east coast, from Cairns to Rockhampton over the weekend into next week.

There are presumptions that few regions of central west Queensland like Longreach may record a high of 31°C on Friday, 32°C on Saturday and 43°C on Sunday, thus surpassing the 40-degree mark.
Furthermore, the southeast may also have a tint of warm conditions towards the end of the week, with Brisbane recording a maximum of 33°C on Friday. This would be the warmest day of October so far with temperatures being 6°C above the average. Likewise, temperatures will be two to three degrees above the average on Thursday as well.
These weather conditions could be attributed to the dry westerly winds that are warm in nature keeping the temperatures high.
However, a change is in store for early next week which would bring in 10°C drop in temperatures starting Sunday (33°C) to Monday (23°C) and Tuesday (24°C). These days would be cool and cloudy with high chances of rain. This condition would not stay for long as the temperatures are expected to rise when the next system develops in the coming week.
