Hawaii gets more snow in a day than Denver and Chicago received this yearFor starters, it does snow in Hawaii, so don’t be surprised. An overnight blizzard has caused heavy snowfall in the mountainous region of Hawaii. In fact, the tallest peak of Hawaii, Mauna Kea witnessed over 8 inches of snow.

The astonishing part here is that the snowfall amount in Hawaii is way more than that received by some of the snowiest cities in the United States during January and February 2017. There was at least 20 cm of snow accumulation which is why the mountain’s summit had to be closed for public.

Chicago, where it usually snows in the month of January as well as February, record no snow in the year 2017. In the last 146 years, it was the first time that the city did not witness any snowfall activity during the first two months of the year. Not only this, Chicago has also recorded a few record-breaking temperatures this year.

Colorado’s capital Denver which receives heavy snow during the winter months has so far only been able to record snowfall amounts of 7.9 inches. Usually, at least 14 inches of snow is recorded over the region. Philadelphia also did not record heavy snow and the figure remained at 7.7 inches.
