The situation in Paris worsened as Seine River crested on Monday causing flooding and inundation in parts of the city. Tuesday too brought no relief as the flood waters continued to threaten the city.
Weather experts predict the rains to reduce. However, the swollen river continues to remain the cause of concern. The river levels in Paris rose to 5.86 meters which is just a few meters down from the January 2016 flood wherein the river level had risen to 6.1 meters.
River Seine’s all-time highest swell was witnessed on January 28, 1910, where the river had peaked to 8.62 meters.

The continuation of rains also continues to remain a concern. As of now, rounds of rainfall are expected to continue occurring in Paris until the weekend. This would further lead the river to swell. The city has already recorded more than double the amount of its average monthly rainfall and with more to come, no respite is expected.
